Learn about fossil dig sites and work with SETS volunteers to find real fossils! Each child will get dirt and a magnifying glass with experts on hand to help verify their find to take home. Ages 8-14
In Earth’s history, at the end of the Cretaceous Period, a cataclysmic event ended the reign of the non-avian dinosaurs. But what other fauna, the small to medium size animals, reptiles, and fish lived there? What lived alongside or maybe underneath the large top critters? Join us as we explore this seldom looked at world. We will look for microscopic fossil remains of these inhabitants of the pre-Paleocene world of the Hell Creek formation found in our western states of Montana, North and South Dakota and Wyoming. Each person will be given dirt and a magnifying glass to search your dirt. If you find something experts will be on hand to help you use a microscope to verify your find which is yours to take home.
Program is for patrons ages 8-14. If you have any questions please contact Abby Cole at acole@pascolibraries.org
