Take a deep dive into the art of collage! In this three-part series, students will learn about the different types of collage with a focus on excavation collage.
Class 1 Collage Materials Creation - this session will allow students to explore different methods for creating collage materials including: gel printing, mark making, stamping, stenciling and the tape transfer technique. They will also experiment with creating materials with non-traditional tools and objects.
Class 2: Collage Design and Creation - using the materials created in the first class, students will design their collages with a focus on cutting vs tearing, layers and shapes, and the application of the collage elements to the canvas and then cover their collage in preparation for excavation.
Class 3: Collage Excavation - will excavate their collages to uncover color and elements that are hidden beneath the top layer to reveal some portions of the collage and add additional embellishments if desired.
