Guardian Ad Litem Introduction
Monday, July 27
2:00pm - 3:00pm
New River Branch
Study Room CGuardian Ad Litem is actively recruiting volunteers and mentors from our community to support children and youth in foster care.
The Florida Guardian ad Litem Office represents the legal interests of Florida's abused, neglected, and abandoned children. We are appointed by a judge after a child enters the dependency system. Each child is appointed a Guardian ad Litem attorney, a child welfare professional, and—when available—a trained community volunteer or pro bono attorney. Our representation protects and advances the rights of children whose age or circumstances prevent them from making decisions for themselves. We consider each child’s physical safety, emotional well-being, and permanent placement in a stable, nurturing home, where the child can thrive. We are actively recruiting volunteers and mentors from our community to support children and youth in foster care.
