Adult Art Lab - Handmade in America
Machine Sewing 101
Tuesday, July 07
5:30pm - 7:30pm
Learn to use a sewing machine in one session. We'll cover threading, basic stitches, tension and pinning. Bring a shirt that's too big ? you'll leave having made it smaller.
The sewing machine transformed America — and then America forgot how to use one. This single-session class covers everything you need to know to get started: how the machine works, safety, winding and threading a bobbin, straight stitch and zigzag, tension, common jams, and how to pin darts and seams.
You'll practice on test swatches and then work on a real project: bringing in a shirt or top that's too big and taking it in to fit. By the end of the session you'll have a garment that fits and the confidence to sit down at a machine again.
All machines provided. Bring a too big shirt or top you want to resize.
Open to adults 18 and older. This is a single week class.
