This month we will discuss the book The Lighthouse Keepers Daughter. Please see the full description for more information.
In 1838 Northumberland, Grace Darling lives at Longstone Lighthouse and becomes famous for rescuing shipwreck survivors during a storm, forming a deep bond with a visiting artist, George Emmerson. A century later in 1938 Newport, pregnant and shamed, nineteen-year-old Matilda Emmerson is sent to stay with her reclusive relative Harriet, an assistant lighthouse keeper. A half-finished portrait reveals Matilda's family history, and as a hurricane approaches, the courage and love of these two women—separated by time—become intertwined forever.
Copies of the book will be available at the February meeting or the Centennial Park Library Service Desk.
